Photography:
By registering for the APPD 2023 Annual Fall Meeting, attendees consent to be photographed during the meeting, with the understanding that these images will be used in APPD documents, social media, and publications only. If anyone prefers to not have their photo used by APPD, please contact info@appd.org.

Cancellation:
APPD reserves the right to cancel any sessions due to lack of enrollment or other factors. In the event of a cancellation, registered participants will be notified by e-mail and will have the option to choose an available alternative. All registration cancellations by participants must be received in writing to APPD. A $50 administration fee will be assessed for all cancellation requests received by August 21, 2023. Cancellations received after August 21, 2023 will not be eligible for a refund. All reimbursements will be processed following the meeting.

By registering and attending the in-person APPD 2023 Annual Fall Meeting, attendees understand and knowingly and freely assume all risks related to illness and infectious diseases, such as COVID-19.

"Ground Truth: A Curriculum In Plain Sight for Our Learners"

Joseph L. Wright, MD, MPH is the newly appointed Chief Health Equity Officer and Senior Vice President
for Equity Initiatives of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). He most recently served as inaugural
Chief Health Equity Officer of the University of Maryland Medical System and prior to that was tenured
Professor and Chair of Pediatrics at the Howard University College of Medicine. He spent more than two
decades in leadership at Children's National Hospital in Washington, DC where he provided strategic direction
for the organization’s advocacy mission, public policy positions, and community partnership initiatives while
also serving 17 years as the inaugural State Pediatric Medical Director within the Maryland Institute for
Emergency Medical Services Systems. Dr. Wright maintains appointments as adjunct professor of emergency
medicine and health policy at George Washington University, and teaches as professor of health policy and
management at the University of Maryland School of Public Health. Read more.

Participants will join faculty experts to receive guidance on topics specific to their role as educators and program leaders. The format of the session will consist of tables covering a variety of topics and a specific question related to that topic to be discussed at each table. There will be an expert Table Leader who will facilitate discussion and share their expertise. Each table session will be 25 minutes in length with the opportunity to participate in three table topics during the session.

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the activity, with individual assessments of the participant and feedback to the participant, enables the participant to earn 14.00 MOC Part 2 points in the American Board of Pediatrics’ (ABP) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABP MOC credit. Participant must complete the assessment within 30 days of the activity. Participant information will be uploaded to ABP 30 days post activity. You must request your certificate within 30 days of the activity to meet the deadline for submission to PARS.
